Ahead of tomorrow’s game, we’ve been chatting to Wolves season ticket holder Steve Lees, asking him a series of questions before his side’s trip to St James’ Park.
Interestingly, Steve saw Salomon Rondon as one of our weakest players, claiming he’s a player who’s ‘never impressed’ him despite his recent run – also saying that he’d poach Lascelles or Shelvey from Rafa’s side if they could sign any player of ours.
Here’s what he said when we asked which NUFC player he’d like to have in his Wolves side:
“Difficult question.
“Lacelles looks quality would fit in well for us, but based on ability and offering a different option it has to be Shelvey – but that wouldn’t be popular after recent events between the two sides!”
Here’s what he also said when asked about the players he sees as the ‘strengths and weaknesses’ in our Newcastle side:
“He’s on a decent run but Rondon has never really impressed me and if Shelvey is missing the central midfield area can also looks average.
“Like most Rafa teams the defensive unit looks good.”
Interestingly, the Wolves fan I spoke to for this week’s edition of the ‘Opposition Opinion’ also wasn’t a fan of Rondon – however he admitted that his West Brom past (their local rivals) is probably the main reasons he isn’t a big fan – so this may apply here also!
It’s also interesting that the two players he’d sign for Wolves are the two Rafa hasn’t been picking of late – not to suggest either aren’t worthy of a first-team place, but more emphasising how our strength in depth has improved in areas.
