Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has confirmed that Newcastle target Olivier Giroud is in ‘advanced talks’ with Inter Milan.
It was reported last weekend that we’d approached Chelsea over a potential loan move for the unsettled French international, however Downie now reports that he’s closing in on a permanent move to Italy.
A move to Tyneside never seemed likely for Giroud, but this is another door that appears to have slammed shut in Bruce’s face.
He isn’t the only alleged target who looks to sign elsewhere either, with Crystal Palace confirming the signing of Cenk Tosun – a striker who was targeted during his time at Bestikas and offered our way on loan this month according to reports.
As we shared earlier today, Sky Sports also claim that AC Milan star and NUFC loan target Krzysztof Piatek is in talks with Tottenham – suggesting he’s another striker who won’t be arriving at St James’ Park this month.
There’s plenty of time left to do business, with the window open for another three weeks, but we’re perhaps starting to see why Bruce called the window ‘very difficult’ during his pre-Wolves press conference earlier today!
