Haris in the hole – Game On! Liverpool v Newcastle

This is Anfield! It's also a dump!
Welcome one and all to the ‘Game On’ article which will take up through every twist and turn of the match this evening as Newcastle take on Liverpool at Anfield.

Haris Vuckic is handed a start and will play just behind lone striker Demba Ba which may come as a surprise to some who expected to see Hatem Ben Arfa start the match after an impressive scoring cameo against Bolton at the weekend. Other than that, Newcastle are unchanged. Ryan Taylor retains his place and even though Davide Santon is fit to return he must make do with a space on the bench.

For Liverpool it’s an ex-Newcastle forward line as Craig Bellamy is paired with Andy Carroll in the absence of Luis Suarez who sits out the match courtesy of a one game suspension for his contemptuous hand gesture at Craven Cottage a few weeks back. Steven Gerrard takes a place on the bench while another former Mag, Jose Enrique, starts.

For a bit more information why give Shamrock’s most excellent match preview a look by clicking here. It’s always a good read and is a good way of spending a few minutes before the big kick-off.

If you can fins a decent stream then please share it with your fellow Mags. The game is on Sky this evening but not everyone has it or is in the pub so if you can find a good’un make you you leave a link to it below.

Right now though, it’s Game On!

Howay the lads!

  7. we never had a better chance than today. No Suarez, a half fit Gerrard, and we shoot ourselves in the foot.

  8. Haven’t criticised him yet, ever (I want him to realise his obvious potential) but Obertan is too reluctant to get stuck in. Seems really reluctant?

  11. FFS I hate this ****. Toon have been OK, Liverpool have been good, Gerrard obviously. But the fucking commentary. It ain’t right. They LOVE Liverpool. What’s going on. WHY?

  12. Agree with Dave. Why did Tiote play the ball to Simpson? Hoof it out. Oh yeah, forgot people want to see football not hoofball….

  13. And for our pet hate Obertan it is roll your sleeves up time surely the lad could be more industrious

  14. Jonas, Obertan, Cabaye all off the pace off the game. Bad sub by Pardew imo, unless Vukic was tiring ?

  15. Toonsy there is a time for hoofball and a time for football 😉 but Tiote likes to play with the ball at times.
As for Gabby I haven’t seen him roll the sleeves up and get stuck in

  16. Simpson is NOT a footballer, he can’t dribble, cross or even keep possession. In hindsight, its right not to succumb to his demand for a better contract.
