Game On! Blackburn v Newcastle

Game On at Ewood Park
Welcome one and all to our famous ‘Game On’ article which will take us through every twist and turn of the trip to Ewood Park this evening.

Newcastle have been disappointing in the last couple of games, or in the last game and a half I should say perhaps. They were excellent in the first half at Fulham but ever since that they’ve kind of fallen asleep.

If they can’t motivate themselves after a humiliating FA Cup exit to Brighton at the weekend then I don’t know what else would do it. I expect to see nothing less than a committed and passionate performance from the players to go some way towards making up for that dismal loss, and the dismal second half against Fulham. They owe it to us and they owe it to themselves.

Anyway, motivational speak over we move onto a bit of team news. The full teamsheet is below and will be updated as and when it becomes available, but one name we won’t see is Yohan Cabaye who sits out after being banned for three games earlier on today. For more injury news and team news you can always peruse Shamrock’s fantastic match preview by clicking here.

It’s looking hopeful for a TV stream also. Several overseas channels are broadcasting the match so the likelihood of a stream is pretty good. As ever, if you stumble across a good one please feel free to leave a link to it in the comments section below.

That just about wraps it up. Here’s hoping for three points tonight, or at the least a greatly improved performance the boys paid handsomely to represent Newcastle United.

Howay the lads!

  1. and Toonsy..
Shola playing do you think it’s a tactical error or do you thing that the guy is a genius during the week but during the games he cannot support the pressure so he is ****, and so is normal that Pardew start him because he is very good every day in the training ground?

  2. no suprise we are playing better changing to 442, perch is gaining my trust playing centre midfield. few cracking tackles there.

  3. Get Strolla off! Maybe replace him with Douglas Barder? Or failing that Abeid or Gosling. Go five in midfield ans sure up.

  4. Seems to me that Perch on for Ben Arfa was a good change. Even though we are still sh!te offensively we have more control of the game.

  5. HBA39 – Shola is playing to win headers at either end. If you can’t see that you shouldn’t be commenting about tactics.

  6. PERCH on was a good decision because now we are more in place but i still think we could be more dangerous with hatem in place of shola

  9. How did Dunne get a free header there ? Was that one of those defensive headers that Shola is on there to make`?

  10. “Ameobi was meant to pick up Scot Dann but just went to sleep for a second or two”, Ye mate… More like an hour or two! 🙄

  11. It’s obvious we’d have more in an attacking sense with HBA on the pitch. However, we’d also look a lot more vulnerable from set pieces. Remember the Carling Cup?

yes Benny was **** during the 1st half but as all the other toonsy, i have no problem to admit that. why is him who is dropped? But maybe my lovechild is better than Shola and Best both together and I m sure about that. and when I see your comments about tactics and some match report i think you have no lesson to give to noone in tactics.
All what i see about Shola is what is that these guy will play in any other team in premierleague in the starting XI. Even modeste who was so **** in Bordeaux and now starts at Blackburn seems 10 times better than SHola

  13. So, I’ve established from this game that I’d like to see us sign Hoilett and Olsson if Blackburn are relegated. Which they will be if they can’t win games after having such dominant spells as they have in this one.

“and when I see your comments about tactics and some match report i think you have no lesson to give to noone in tactics.”

Well the simple answer is….. Don’t fucking read it then 😀

  15. Gary watson,
It was not the decision to send Benny off was makes us more compact and more solid in defense. Its the fact that Perch comes in and he does the job of Tiote so he is here to broke the construction of Blackburn, because the problem was that Guthrie and Taylor was lost at CM. BUt now if Hatem was playing in place of Shola we will be compact and solid the same it change nothing to our defense system.

  16. I’d actually bring Obertan on for Taylor as he works hard and they may, just may be wary of his pace. I would also bring Abeid on for Strolla.

  17. 😆 Atleast we don’t have to worry about a team coming in to take Strolla 😀 😀 unless they need someone to carry their nets and cones and stuff 😉

  18. when you watch Shola on games like he has had tonight it makes you wonder if he has any desire at all.

  19. WhyCabaye….looking at some of the other comments on here, I think you would have got away with it 😉

  20. Haha true Richie! I was thinking that we survived last season with them two up front so why not tonight against Blackburnt!

Watch Ameobi get the 2nd now though! 😉

  21. Talking of Krul can anyone remember him releasing the ball early ❓ he always seems to take an age, but then maybe he has to wait for strolla to get up to the halfway line 😆
Well I will be as happy as a pig in **** if we can hold on to this, then we will have the feel good factor back with Ba 😉

  22. The Blackburn left back Ollsson looks an IMMENSE player. He’s played like a left winger the whole game. 🙄
