One of English football’s most loved characters remains as popular today as he ever was.
No matter what club or which country, Sir Bobby Robson is one of the most revered of English managers and in a fitting legacy, ITV reports that his foundation has now raised £10m in the eight years of its existence.
It’s a phenomenal figure and a testimony to the weight of Sir Bobby’s reputation. Immensely proud of his roots and this club, his foundation is a fitting legacy for him to have left behind.
The foundation is funding almost £1m worth of medical staff and research at the soon-to-be opened Newcastle University Centre for Childhood Cancer. The centre is concentrating on new therapies and treatment for children already suffering from the illness or those in whom it has returned.
It’s a staggering amount of money and those running the foundation deserve an immense amount of credit for ensuring a fitting legacy for one the region’s finest footballing men.
