Yedlin’s Newcastle Massive

DeAndre Yedlin labelled Newcastle United a “massive club” reports The Shields Gazette.

I had hoped it would be Yedlin’s Ali G impression but no it wasn’t. Instead, he preached to the converted.

Whilst he enjoyed his time on Wearside, the Black Cats didn’t offer him the opportunity to return to the Stadium of Light. Newcastle did and for Yedlin, it was a no-brainer.

The ‘Rafa effect’ came into play as well with the US international making his admiration for the Spaniard obvious,

“He’s an unbelievable manager with a great resume so there were really no cons to it. “

It’s the footballing equivalent of taking teacher an apple. Soft-soaping the boss may well get him a place in the starting line-up a bit quicker than anything.

Dropping down a division wasn’t a problem, particularly as he belives we possess the talent to win promotion. And in no way should his flattery be construed as being born of relief at not playing a season in Tottenham’s academy sides…
