Former NUFC target, Alan Judge, has signed a two-year contract with Brentford yesterday, ending Newcastle’s interest in the midfielder.
It was in reported in The Chronicle last summer that Newcastle were closing in on a deal for Brentford star, who scored an impressive 14 goals last season, seeing him included in the 2015/16 PFA Championship team of the season.
The Magpies had been linked with a move for the attacking midfielder over the past two transfer windows, looking to secure a cut-price deal for a player whose contract was set to expire in the summer of 2017.
The deal, however, broke down as it became apparent that, the injured Judge, wasn’t as close to a return as had been previously thought, with the midfielder still yet to make an appearance this season.
It has then being announced, just yesterday, that the 28 year-old has now signed a two-year contract with Brentford, all but ending Newcastle’s interest in the player.

Whilst the diminutive midfielder may have provided Newcastle with some useful Championship know-how, it may have been a risky signing, given the player was in the process of recovering from a nasty double leg-break.
Good luck to Alan, he’s shown admirable commitment to Brentford, but I certainly won’t be losing any sleep over this one!
