Benitez could hand two players a chance to revive Newcastle United career

August 17, 2017August 17, 2017 Andy The Magpie

According to reports carried out by HITC, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is willing to allow the duo of Massadio Haidara and Achraf Lazaar a chance to feature for the club once again.

Newcastle United suffered a very disappointing 2-0 defeat in their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park on Sunday and to add insult to injury, two key defenders in Paul Dummett and Florian Lejeune were forced off during the game due to injury problems.

While manager Rafael Benitez does have Chancel Mbemba to cover for Lejeune in central defence, the Spaniard was forced to use Ciaran Clark in the left-back position as a replacement for Dummett during the clash against Tottenham.

Therefore, it is evident to see that Newcastle are currently short on options in the left side of the defence and while Benitez is desperately looking to bring in a new player, he is also said to be planning to hand the duo of Massadio Haidara and Achraf Lazaar a chance in the first team once again.

Haidara and Lazaar have both been made available for a transfer this summer after failing to impress Benitez last season but the Magpies boss is currently contemplating recalling the two players back into the fold.

Haidara and Lazaar will now surely be hoping to use the opportunity set to be handed to them to revive their respective careers at St. James’ Park and it will be interesting to see if they are able to do so.
