Newcastle United second favourites to sign 20-year-old winger from Germany

According to reports carried out by HITC, Newcastle United are currently among the favourites to acquire the services of RB Leipzig winger Oliver Burke.

RB Leipzig splashed around £13million to acquire the services of Oliver Burke from Nottingham Forest last summer and many felt that the extremely talented young winger would make a positive impact in Germany.

While Leipzig did manage a sensational second place finish in the Bundesliga table, it has to be said that Burke’s contribution to the achievement was very little as he appeared only 17 times throughout the course of the campaign, with majority of his appearances coming off the bench.

As a result, it has widely been reported that Burke could make a return back to England this summer and Crystal Palace are touted as the potential destination for the 20-year-old, with former Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman said to be playing a key role in the process of bringing the youngster to Selhurst Park.

However reports have claimed that even Newcastle are currently in the race to sign Burke and according to HITC, the Magpies are currently second favourites behind Palace to recruit the youngster.

Burke would surely be a very good addition to the Newcastle lineup but with manager Rafael Benitez having to sell before being able to buy new players; Palace might just pip the Magpies in the race for the Scottish international.
