Newcastle United set to take shock action to raise funds

August 27, 2017August 27, 2017 Andy The Magpie

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are ready to dispense with the services of Dwight Gayle in the coming days so as to raise funds to sign new players.

Newcastle United splashed around £10million to acquire the services of Dwight Gayle from Crystal Palace last summer and it has to be said that the striker more than repaid the Magpies after scoring a sensational 23 goals in 32 appearances in the Championship last season.

Gayle’s goals were one of the main reasons behind Newcastle United earning promotion into the Premier League and it was expected that the former Peterborough United star would be crucial to the Magpies’ hopes of surviving in the top flight this term.

As it has turned out though, Gayle has failed to make any positive impact whatsoever in the two matches he has featured during the current campaign and with Joselu having arrived from Stoke City recently, the 27-year-old has seemingly been pushed down the pecking order at the club.

Now in surprise reports from the Daily Mail, claims have been made that Gayle could well be sold by Newcastle during the final days of the transfer window as the Magpies look to raise funds to buy new players.

While Gayle has not impressed so far this season, he certainly deserves more time to prove himself due to his huge contribution to the Newcastle cause last term.
