Michael Owen may be a bit of a villain amongst NUFC fans, however the former striker has made some very positive predictions ahead of this weekend’s game with Arsenal.
Not only does he predict that we WILL get a result against Unai Emery’s side on Saturday, saying ‘I do not expect the Magpies to lose’, he’s backing us to move clear of the drop zone before long – even tipping us to finish in the top half once again this season.
Here’s what he’s had to say during his weekly piece for Bet Victor, with him fully expecting us to get a result on Saturday and have another decent season:
Newcastle start the weekend in the bottom three and are yet to win, but the fixture list has not been kind to United and they look to have some easier looking fixtures after the visit of Arsenal. Indeed, I still believe The Toon will move clear of the drop zone and it would be no surprise to me if they again finished the season in the top half.
Arsenal have yet to convince and often looked shaky at Cardiff despite running out 3-2 winners. Two defeats from four outings is hardly top 4 form, however, and the Gunners are already looking more like a top six outfit than one who will challenge for a Champions League spot – at least this season.
Newcastle won the corresponding fixture 2-1 last season and the Gunners have not won back-to-back away PL games since May 2017. I do not expect the Magpies to lose.
I must admit, I’m quite confident of a result on Saturday (Arsenal’s defence looked very poor when I watched them against Cardiff last time out), however I can’t say I agree with a potential top ten finish.
Our squad may have marginally improved, with Rondon improving us up top and us having Dubravka and Kenedy for full seasons this time around, however I see there being four better teams than us above the top 6.
Do you agree with Owen’s outlook?
