Bitter Neil Warnock says this was NUFC’s ‘best player’ vs Cardiff – He’s had a shocker here..

Neil Warnock believes Salomon Rondon was the ‘best player on the pitch’ during our 3-0 win over Cardiff – despite Fabian Schar’s match winning performance at both ends.

It’s hard to argue with that given how well the big man played up top, but one of Warnock’s remarks about Rondon was laughable – with him stating ‘you get what you pay for’…despite him only being on loan.

Here’s what Warnock said about the game – giving a bizarre reason why Rondon was the difference between the two sides:

“Nine of those who started for us were in the Championship last year.

“I thought Rondon was the best player on the pitch – and you get what you pay for, really.

“It’s a disappointment for us.

“I didn’t think it was a 3-0 game. It was there for us in the first half.”

To make matters worse, this comment comes on the same day Cardiff broke their club record signing following the arrival of £18m striker Emiliano Sala – a deal that eclipses our most expensive buy!

Perhaps Warnock is still bitter about missing out on Rondon – a player he admitted to wanting over the summer in his pre-match presser.

Schar was the match winner, but Rondon was outstanding. He battled for every ball, gave us a focal point to build on up top, linked the play and put it on a plate for Perez late on.

That’s now 6 goals and 3 assists in 14 starts, but his stats will never do him justice. He’s invaluable to our team and the way Rafa wants us to play this season.

He may not have signed permanently for the big money Warnock speaks of, but we’ll be wishing he did – with West Brom likely to demand a sizeable fee after his impressive loan spell ends.

  1. Just in case anyone doesn’t know, his nickname in the game is “Colin”.

Called that because someone, somewhere once realised that Neil Warnock is an anagram of Colin ******…
