NUFC player now ruled out of final 9 games of the Premier League season – Report

Paul Dummett is set to miss the rest of the Premier League season despite being fit to play, according to The Mail.

Teams in the top flight will NOT be allowed to resubmit their 25-man squad which means Kenton lad Dummett, who was taken out of Bruce’s squad in January after being ruled out for the season with a tendon injury, is set to miss out.

Some clubs have benefitted from the coronavirus lay-off when it comes to options at their disposal – just look at Spurs with Harry Kane, Man Utd with Marcus Rashford, for example. However, we are set to lose one of our most experienced and dependable defenders who otherwise would be ready and available for selection.

With Danny Rose our now only available recognised left-back, it’s a good job we’ve agreed to extend his loan deal from Spurs!

For me, the 25-man squad is a stupid rule. If a player is contracted to a club, getting paid a healthy wage, why should that club be forbidden from playing him?

It seems like an unnecessary obstacle and it must be tough for Dummett, although sitting on the sidelines on an extra couple of month’s holiday probably won’t be as excruciating as some would think.
