Mike Ashley pushed Saudis over the edge in late move to ‘renegotiate’ £300m takeover – Report

Some damning claims have emerged from The Mail’s David Coverdale tonight, revealing what ‘sources close to the Saudis’ have said about Mike Ashley’s role in their withdrawal on Thursday afternoon.

They state that the Newcastle United owner tried to “significantly renegotiate” the £300m deal at the ‘last minute’.

As a result, Coverdale claims this one of the reasons why they have withdrawn their interest today, stating they also lost their patience with the Premier League after FOUR months of waiting for a final decision:

Sadly, this sounds just like Mr. Ashley, doesn’t it?

I initially struggled to see how he would be able to renegotiate a deal that had already been agreed, with contracts exchanged and a deposit paid by all accounts, however Coverdale claims the ‘sales and purchase agreement’ signed between the two parties back in April had expired earlier this month, meaning Ashley was able to propose new terms.

What an absolute shambles.

  1. Ashley and the EPL are an absolute disgrace. Everyone knows this would have been approved long ago if it had been a buy out of one of the *Top clubs”. Upsetting the status quo appears bad for business. What’s the effin point anymore. I’m done with football.

  2. What a surprise, every transfer window going back 3 or 4 seasons Ashley puts the club up for sale and through his devious negotiations it falls through. The F A should be looking at Ashleys running of a football club. It’s also strange that the Saudis brother is the owner of Man City. So why is he fit for purpose and his brother is not for Newcastle United?

  3. OK – now explain how other Premiership owners passed the Tests???

West Ham owners made their money from Top Shelf magazine’s = the misery they brought (!!??)

    Chelski???

Now we are left with a Manager that can’t manage!

An Managing Director that’s incompetent and an Owner that in the past has sold player’s, then put the money in his wallet and then LOANED us the money for new player’s

We are doomed with these are here next season = championship here we come!

  4. Absolutely gutted hearing this news, the premier league should b ashamed of themselves for taking 4 months to decide nothing. And Ashley well we all know how devious a man he can b always looking out for himself not the loyal fans that lace his pockets. So now we have another relegation battle ahead wit Bruce and no transfer money. Saint Maximum and Almiron will for sure b looking for more ambitious clubs.

Sooooooo glad we were able to get Jaba the Hutt out of Glasgow Rangers.
I wish Newcastle and their fans all the best and hope someday you can rid your club of the cancer that is Ashley.
