Sky Sports reveal extent of Gayle & Dubravka injuries as NUFC are dealt huge double blow

Sky Sports have now shared an update on the NUFC injury front, and it’s not looking good for Dwight Gayle and Martin Dubravka.

They report that Gayle is set to be sidelined for “months, rather than weeks” following a scan on his knee, while Dubravka is expected to be missing for 6-8 weeks.

Dubravka is believed to have picked up an ankle/heel injury during our pre-season camp in York, while Dwight Gayle hyper-extended his knee in our 3-0 win over Crewe on Tuesday.

As stated by North-East correspondent Keith Downie, NUFC are yet to comment on either injury, but it looks like both will be missing for our first few games of the season against West Ham, Brighton and Spurs.

This means Karl Darlow looks set to start between the sticks over the first few weeks of the season, while Andy Carroll is currently the only striker training at the club with Gayle sidelined, Joelinton on extended leave for reasons that aren’t yet known and Muto on the lookout for a move away.

What a mess.
