Ex-NUFC duo score in Chris Hughton’s first game back & two former Mags top scoring charts

Former NUFC boss Chris Hughton took charge of his first home game as Nottingham Forest last night after 18 months out of the game.

Following a late win at Blackburn over the weekend, Hughton’s Forest side were held to a 1-1 draw by newly promoted Rotherham last night in a game where former Newcastle United men grabbed all the headlines.

Recently sold midfielder Dan Barlaser scored to give the visitors a second half lead from the spot, until Sammy Ameobi rescued a point for Hughton 10 minutes from time!

Elsewhere in the Championship, the scoring charts are also dominated by two former Newcastle United talents, with Ivan Toney and Adam Armstrong both tied on five goals each.

The pair were sold for just over £1.5m by Rafa Benitez, yet have benefited hugely from regular first-team football away from St James’ Park, with Toney taking no time to settle in at Brentford following a summer move from Peterborough.

As for Armstrong, he’s scored 21 Championship goals since the start of last season, which is more than any other player currently playing in the division!
