Newcastle sign French forward & “close friend” of Allan Saint-Maximin’s – Report

According to the Shields Gazette, Newcastle United have completed the signing of Florent Indalecio following a successful trial at the club.

The 23-year-old – who is believed to be a “close friend” of Allan Saint-Maximin’s – has signed a deal until the end of the season and looks set to go into our U-23 set up.

It was reported by Lee Ryder last month that the former Saint-Ettiene talent had featured in a few of the U-23’s pre-season friendlies and was training with the club for a few weeks before the club made a final decision on the No 10.

Indalecio is understood to know ASM well from his time in France, with both graduating from the Saint-Etienne academy as youngsters.

He was released by the Ligue 1 club for “bad behaviour”, however, and has recently had a spell in Australia before being handed a second chance in European football by Newcastle this week.

Lee Ryder has since insisted that he’s “being deemed a low key signing”, stating that he will “have to work hard to prove himself in the reserves” after being handed the chance to impress until the end of the season.

This is the third addition to the second string, with Indalecio following on from Rodrigo Vilca and Bradley Cross’ arrival into our U-23’s.

Here’s the wonder goal he scored during his trial period on Tyneside:
