Newcastle ‘interested’ in signing Jorge Fernandes and Enis Bardhi – Report

Newcastle United are showing interest in La Liga playmaker Enis Bardhi and Portuguese centre-back Jorge Fernandes ahead of the January transfer window.

Bardhi is a 25-year-old attacking midfielder and free-kick specialist who plays in Spain with Levante.

The Mail’s Simon Jones claims he is a player we’ve been showing interest in ahead of the January transfer window, claiming we are targeting a midfielder, left-sided centre-back and right-back next month.

Bardhi is a Macedonian international who bagged 7 goals and 4 assists last season, being able to operate on the wing, as a No 10 or in central midfield.

Then to Jorge Fernandes, the 6ft 4′ centre-back who is believed to be in the middle of a three-way battle between ourselves, Fulham and Southampton.

It’s claimed the Portuguese U-21 international has been catching the eye of Newcastle scouts, with him being Vitoria Guimaraes’ star player so far this season.

The Liga NOS side have conceded just TWO goals this season when the 23-year-old talent has been on the pitch, with his standout displays helping them up to 5th in the Portuguese top flight.

This wouldn’t fit in with Bruce’s search for proven Premier League players, but both fit Mike Ashley’s buying model, being 25 or below with high potential.
