Some interesting updates on the transfer front have emerged from Mark Douglas’ latest piece for The Chronicle today.
The ‘bad news’ is that Newcastle United have tried and failed to pull off the ambitious loan signing of Dele Alli, with the Spurs outcast not interested in a loan move to St James’ Park and instead likely to be reunited with former boss Mauricio Pochettino at PSG.
Who could blame him if they are his options, but the good news is it’s The Chronicle’s understanding that Man Utd talent Brandon Williams is ‘keen’ on a move to Tyneside.
The left wing-back (who can also play down the right) has been tipped to arrive on loan for a few months now and it’s said a move North “appeals after positive communication between Steve Bruce and Manchester United coach Michael Carrick”.
Then to the Ligue 1 option that is mentioned in the piece, with Mark Douglas claiming former Everton loanee Djibril Sidibe could be targeted – although it’s not clear if any move for the right-back would be seen as a Plan B to Williams.
This comes a few days after French outlet Foot Mercato claimed we’d made contact with Monaco to ask about his availability this month. They reported that the former France international was free to leave for around £6m, but it seems a loan deal is also something they’re open to.
So, promising news on the full-back front but it seems Dele Alli’s arrival until the end of the season is a total non-starter!

We all know with Bruce we’ll end up with lazy players we simply don’t need = more midfielder’s like Hendrick and Backslider’s like Fraser!
Jones and Lingard = not wanted or needed
Bruce had nothing to do with the signing of Lewis and Wilson – thank God!
It’s like Bruce is building a group on par with his ability = total rubbish
