Crystal Palace could now sign Newcastle player on “huge” wages for free – Alan Nixon

According to Alan Nixon, Dwight Gayle is being lined up for a summer return to Selhurst Park.

The senior writer at The Sun claims that Newcastle are in ‘no rush’ to get rid this month, but believes a move back to Crystal Palace is a real possibility this summer.

Gayle’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, meaning he could leave on a free in July if no new contract extension comes his way.

Here’s what Nixon’s had to say, claiming the 31-year-old is currents on ‘huge’ wages:

His injury issues have been a persistent problem, but he scored four goals in eight games during Project Restart then made an immediate impact from the bench to get us that big 2-1 win over West Brom.

His fox in the box header to down the Baggies showed what a poacher he can be, yet Steve Bruce hasn’t handed him a single start since, often limiting him to a few minutes from the bench at best.

With Andy Carroll seemingly ahead of him in the pecking after his goal against Leicester and improved display vs Arsenal, it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s allowed to leave this month – providing we can get a replacement, that is.

  1. IF Numpty Bruce isn’t going to play Gayle = SELL him now and get at least some money to fund another striker!!!

NO more average midfielder’s – we’ve got enough and even if we bought messi, Bruce would hv him on the bench for the last 5 minutes with the waste of space Joelinton starting

    Bruce just isn’t a MANAGER
