Steve Bruce told to leave Newcastle United by former employer – “I’ve told him to quit”

Simon Jordan has revealed this afternoon that he’s told Steve Bruce to walk away from Newcastle United.

The talkSPORT pundit actually employed the 60-year-old during his time at Crystal Palace and has regularly defended the job he has done since he took charge back in 2019.

However, speaking on the show earlier today, Jordan has admitted that he’s now told Bruce to “quit” – insisting that he will NEVER be able to turn things around on Tyneside.

That said, he believes the time to walk was over the summer after our 12th placed finish, believing no amount of ‘resilience’ will see him win over Newcastle fans calling for his head.

Here’s what he’s had to say on talkSPORT:

Being brutally honest, I think Steve Bruce would happily walk away right now if he knew he’d receive his reported £4m pay off from Mike Ashley.

However, unless he is sacked, he won’t be receiving that – and I can’t help but think that’s what’s keeping him around. Not his so-called love for the club, but the thought of missing out on one last payday – because, let’s face it, he’s not getting another Premier League job after this.

If he’d left this summer he would’ve got a few pats on the back, with some accepting that he’d at least kept us up during times of trouble and takeover uncertainty, however it feels like he’s now lost the plot and fighting several battles he just can’t win.

It’s time to go, Steve.
