Newcastle handed quadruple injury boost – but 3 players look set to miss Tottenham clash

Newcastle United look set to have FOUR key players back fit for Sunday’s clash with Spurs at St James’ Park.

Speaking to the press this afternoon, Steve Bruce has confirmed that Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles and Jonjo Shelvey are all ‘fit’, while Joe Willock is also expected to be OK after returning to training on Thursday.

Willock limped off in our 2-1 defeat at Wolves prior to the international break, meanwhile Shelvey could feature for the first time since the opening day defeat to West Ham after coming through the U23’s 4-0 win over Birmingham on Monday.

The bad news, however, is that Miguel Almiron looks set to miss out, with him due back on Tyneside tomorrow after playing for Paraguay at 9pm last night.

He’ll face a long trip back from South America, and Bruce feels it’ll be “too much” for Miggy to go again on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Martin Dubravka and Paul Dummett won’t be available just yet, with both recovering from long-term injuries that’ve kept them out all seven of our games so far this season:

Here’s what Bruce had to say when giving an update on the injury front this afternoon:

“The only ones not available are Dúbravka and Dummett.

“The captain [Jamaal Lascelles] is fit, Jonjo Shelvey is fit and Callum Wilson is fit.”

“I don’t think it would be fair to include Miggy as he only played at 9 o’clock last night in Bolivia.

“He arrives back on Saturday morning.

“It would be too much for him.”

Bruce also had this to say on squad morale after a huge week for the club off the field:

“I think they’re excited like everybody else.

They realise there’s been a monumental change and I’m sure the players will want to prove that they can be part of taking the club to a better place.

Certainly there’s been a change in the whole atmosphere.”

  1. Ok that is good but why are you still in the dugout can you not be in the stands and let someone else run the show they have better ideas because you won’t have a clue even with the fit players back three points will be lost
