Must-read comments as Eddie Howe explains why he loves Joelinton – “I wouldn’t swap him”

Eddie Howe is clearly a huge fan of Joelinton.

The Brazilian put in another huge shift for the side in Tuesday’s clash with Norwich and Howe has been singing his praises when speaking to the press this morning.

The NUFC boss has not only talked up his mix of ‘physicality and technical ability’, but revealed what a ‘selfless mindset’ he has, applauding the hard work and non-stop running he puts in off the ball.

Interestingly, Howe also refused to label the Brazilian when asked what was his best position, instead saying that the 24-year-old ‘can be whatever he wants to be’ – a huge compliment to Joelinton which highlights his versatility.

Here’s what the 44-year-old had to say about our £40m man:

“We really, really like him and I think he’s got a good mix of physicality and technical ability.

You saw some superb footwork to get out of some difficult areas.

His work rate has been a real feature and he’s given everything for the team.

“He’s got a really selfless mindset so I’ve been really pleased with him.

I think he can continue to improve and he’s going to be a huge player for us.

On Tuesday he started as a 10, then moved to a midfield position. He can play in a number of areas.

“I wouldn’t probably label him at this moment.

“For me, he’s already played three or four positions and played them all very well.

“Joelinton can be whatever he wants to be.

“He’s still young. I wouldn’t swap him.

“He’s got a very high technical level, he’s got a great work ethic and a great physicality.

I think he does have the ability also to score goals.

Put that mix together and I think you have an outstanding individual who is only going to get better for us.”
