Newcastle set to launch bid for £17m Feyenoord star after Benoit Badiashile injury?

Newcastle may be forced to rethink their centre-back plans once again, with Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile set for up to six weeks on the sidelines after picking up an injury on Sunday, according to L’Equipe.

The Athletic revealed that the Frenchman has been identified as our back-up option to Sven Botman, making this another blow to our transfer plans after our attempts to sign the Lille star were described as ‘all but over’ just yesterday.

So, who do we turn to now if his injury is as bad as first feared?

Well, former Sky Sports reporter Pete O’Rourke and Football Insider’s Wayne Veysey reckon we’ve moved on to Feyenoord’s Marcos Senesi.

The aggressive Argentinian defender has been one of the standout performers in the Eredivisie this season, with Brighton and ourselves said to be preparing to test the Dutch giants’ resolve with a January bid.

Senesi, 24, is left-footed centre-back – like both Botman and Badiashile – and is believed to be available for around £17m, according to Football Insider.

Time will tell if the South American really is one of the new names under consideration at NUFC…or just the latest link to come and go from those claiming to be in the know!

  1. All these players linked is just getting ridiculous!
If Brighton, West Ham and Brentford are in for an unproven Ekitike we haven’t got a cat in hells chance.
We will need to build from the Championship imo.
