NUFC official spotted watching Championship star with Eddie Howe eyeing summer bid – Report

According to new reports, Newcastle United officials were spotted on a scouting trip to watch Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly last week.

Football Insider report that Eddie Howe is keen to keep tabs on the man he brought to the Vitality Stadium back in 2019 and asked Toon talent spotters to watch him in their 1-0 win at Barnsley last week.

Kelly is currently the Cherries’ captain and one of their key players in their push for automatic promotion under Scott Parker, yet the piece claims we are plotting a summer move for the 23-year-old – regardless of what division we are playing in next season.

The 6ft 3′ defender is not only a leader and a versatile player capable of operating at left-back, but also a ball-playing centre-back who has pace and athleticism.

The report claims that Howe made enquiries to sign Kelly in January, but was told that his former club had zero interest in selling their skipper midway through a potential promotion season.
