Simon Jordan says NUFC won’t be able to attract this player as surprise new rumour emerges – Video

We’ll have to get used to a new wave of names being linked with summer moves to Newcastle United, and the latest man being tipped to arrive is a certain Paul Pogba!

Personally, I’m not buying it, but reports on Thursday claimed we will attempt to convince the Frenchman to sign at St James’ Park on a free transfer once his Man Utd contract expires in June.

Eddie Howe almost signed the midfielder on loan for Burnley way back in 2011 – so he may be an admirer – however outspoken pundit Simon Jordan thinks it’s a non starter.

It’s reported that he is ‘open’ to joining another Premier League club this summer, but Jordan reckons Newcastle won’t appeal to the 28-year-old – no matter how much money we may throw at him.

Here’s what Jordan said on talkSPORT in reaction to the latest transfer rumour on Tyneside:

“If you have got no transfer fee for Pogba, then most of these clubs can afford to pay XYZ.

“I don’t know whether he is going to go at 200 grand a week, I suspect it would be a lot more than that and that might be the stumbling block.

“But if Newcastle were to make a statement then those are the kinds of statements you would think they would make.

“I just don’t think Newcastle have enough pedigree irrespective of the project or the embarrassment of riches for Pogba to go there now.

“This is his last big contractual move, he will still want to win things and there still going to be a gestation period between Newcastle being a club with immense wealth into a winning club.”

  1. He’s hoping we don’t!!. If he can’t knuckle down and gives his all at a club like Man Utd where he had chance of winning trophies – why would he at the club he’d see as his bumper final pay day??!.

Whoever gets him next is getting Pogba who is more focused on brand Pogba for after football – he might turn up now and again.

He’s certainly not the player we need to grow & get up challenging the likes of Man Utd.

  2. Pog has all the talent in the world but not enough heart to play at this club. If we even consider signing him it is only to attract others we would really want at this club.
