NUFC star makes it 4 goals in 4 days with another brace on Thursday night – Watch all of them here

Chris Wood is enjoying an international break to savour for his country.

He bagged two goals in New Zealand’s World Cup qualifier win over Fiji on Monday, becoming the nation’s all time leading scorer as a result, and he was at it again last night.

The Kiwi came on in the latter stages of Thursday’s clash New Caledonia and scored in the 83rd and 89th minute to not only seal a 7-1 win – sending them top of Group B – but take his tally to the week up to four goals.

Granted, he’s been finding the net against poor opposition, however him securing his name in New Zealand history, bagging two braces in a week and making it EIGHT goals in his last six games for his country can only improve his confidence levels ahead of his return to Tyneside next week.

His hectic schedule continues on Sunday, as the All Whites face Tahiti in another World Cup qualifier, so hopefully he can come through that unscathed and add another goal or two to his tally.

Watch all of his goals this week below, starting with his brace last night (from 3:05 onwards):

Chris Wood goals from Monday night’s 4-0 win over Fiji can also been seen below, with the first coming at 0:58 and the second from 2:09 onwards:

  1. While I fully appreciate the “feel-good factor” side of things, and confidence it will give him, getting excited about Chris Wood scoring 4 against New Caledonia and Fiji (ranked 159 and 163 in the world) all seems a bit like claiming Elliot Anderson should be in our first team because he looks so much better than all the other 4th division players he’s currently playing with.
We didn’t get this excited when Supermac scored 5 against Cyprus.
