Howe reveals the exact type of player he wants to sign for Newcastle United this summer

Eddie Howe has revealed that he wants unselfish and hardworking players to sign for the club this summer, believing Bruno Guimaraes’ character will be a blueprint we look to follow.

The Brazilian international had to wait to get his chance in the starting line-up – he wasn’t in the first 11 until March 10th – but has shown real patience and duly delivered with three goals and a host of outstanding display when given his opportunity in the team.

Howe will be looking for similar characters to the ones he brought in January – all five of Burn, Targett, Bruno, Trippier and Wood have clearly had a positive impact in the dressing room and given the squad a huge morale boost.

Speaking ahead of the summer window, Howe said:

“It is so important you get good people in your dressing room.

“Bruno Guimaraes is typical of what we want.

He is not selfish. He thinks of the team. His weekend will be judged on the team winning or losing.

“We need to bring players in of a similar mindset who think of the club first and individual second.

“It is the most difficult part of the recruitment process.”

With so many players now aware of our financial situation, it will be even more of a challenge to find those who are willing to fight for the club and who will play for the fans not for their pay cheque.

  1. Howe’s spending will be restricted in the summer, with the previously suggested 60 million probably being accurate.

Howe was no hired to take us forward. He was hired to keep us up. And because of this he will only get a modest budget, if he even keeps his job.
He might get one more season, looking for a top 10 finish, but if the new owners are looking to succeed they’ll have a list of managers to push on with, the same way that they will have a list of players to replace the likes of Wood, Target, Burn, Wilson Willock etc.

  2. Hard working and ex players that he knows well, the rest is bull99it.
yeah he may be what we need to do the original heavy work, but as a top coach questionable and he knows it .
Soh what do we have, certainly no outstanding hope, but rather some-one willing to do the heavy work and thanked and dumped , then it appears we can attract a willing coach to take a chance.
Nah ! when the heavy work gets done and nufc become respectable for a BIG coach is when it will happen, bout another three or four years.
Relax you got a lotta games before you wn out ?
