Player ‘keen’ on securing summer move to Newcastle United after talks in Northumberland – Report

According to The Chronicle’s Charlie Bennett, Newcastle are now “close” to a deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson after talks were held between club representatives in Northumberland.

The 25-year-old is apparently “keen” on the move and would prefer a permanent transfer to a loan deal after he was repeatedly let down by his club due to broken promises over first team football.

A deal has been on the cards for some time now, with Newcastle and Eddie Howe playing down the rumours, although Manchester Evening News had previously reported that it was “99% done.”

It seems that the Englishman is being lined up as the number one replacement for Martin Dubravka and one of our first – hopefully of many – signings of the summer.

During a World Cup year, the shot-stopper will be eager to show off his talents and work his way back into that England squad which he made his only appearance for back in November 2020.

Moving forward, the club was in desperate need of new keeper and at 25 years of age, Henderson could well be part of the long-term project.

  1. I see in The Mag article Rio Ferdinand thinks Eddie Howe will be replaced at Newcastle by Emery, he does talk some S**t!
As for Dean Henderson I think Man Utd are worried about losing their standing in the premier league and will not be helping us in any way as was shown with the Lingard situation in January the price they quote will probably be ridiculous.
When the changes and signings arrive I will believe it and not before.

  2. So Henderson wants a move to Newcastle (where he would be stand in for Dubravka) because of a lack of first team football at Man U?

So the guy who wants first team football is happy to come to the Toon to not play first team football?

Aye – that sounds like Charlie Bennett.

  4. Henderson will sign but Newcastle want a loan deal so they can spread the money spent for FPP my guess is Nketiah will sign from Arsenal when his contract runs out in June or whenever

100% henderson would be an upgrade on dubravka

Away man, no way is he an upgrade on Dubravka, Henderson was **** the games he played for Man U, he is over also priced because he is English, he is the Maguire of goalkeepers, overrated and not as good as his hype ☹️

They’re wanting 40 mill which is ludicrous for a reserve keeper. Newcastle won’t pay that and rightly so. NOBODY will pay that for Henderson

  7. Kid is good but wages are mental. Man u are paying well over 100k a week for him. They signed him as a first choice keeper as Degea was leaving. Not a bad keeper but can’t see us paying those wages for him.
