Man Utd launch bid to sign Newcastle target on bargain deal – The Athletic

The Athletic have revealed that Manchester United have made an offer to sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer following his release from Brentford.

David Ornstein states that the Danish international is considering ‘multiple options’ – and it’s believed Newcastle United are one of them.

Speaking exclusively to NUFC Blog last week, Football Transfers correspondent Jacque Talbout told us that the 30-year-old was expected to hold face-to-face talks with Eddie Howe this week after his representatives received interest from the club earlier this month.

However, it seems we are inevitably facing intense competition for Eriksen, who is not only a proven Premier League player but available on a free transfer.

It’s believed Howe feels the former Spurs star could quality and experience – both on and off the field – to his side, although it seems Man Utd have upped their interest after talks failed to progress for top target Frenkie De Jong.
