Luke Edwards issues update on NUFC’s pursuit of Chelsea trio, João Pedro and Goncalo Ramos

After a few weeks away, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has returned with an update on the Toon transfer front.

He reports that Chelsea duo Christian Pulisic and Conor Gallagher are two ‘leading targets’, but the club are no closer to knowing if they’ll be able to sign either on loan.

Gallagher may only be allowed to leave if Thomas Tuchel lands a replacement, while Pulisic appears to have received interest from a host of clubs, with Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan all linked with loan bid yesterday.

As for Joao Pedro, Edwards believes it’s a ‘we shall see’ on the Brazilian talent, as our firm interest is mixed with a ‘growing concern’ he may not be allowed to leave Watford – who seems reluctant to sell him, Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaila Sarr in one window.

Back to Chelsea, Armando Broja ‘remains a possibility’, however the forward wants to be ‘first choice’ if he leaves on loan – something he’s unlikely to get at St James’ Park while Callum Wilson remains fit as the club’s number nine.

Last but not least, Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos is a player we ‘like’, but Edwards has denied talk of an official bid for the 21-year-old striker who’s been heavily linked with Southampton and Watford over the past 24 hours, saying ‘nothing is close’ on incomings as things stand.
