A few days ago, Fabrizio Romano announced that Joao Pedro to Newcastle United was a ‘done deal’ for a fee of £25m plus £5m in add-ons.
Since then, a lot of conflicting claims have emerged on the Watford star, but reports up and down the country seem unanimous in revealing that Alexander Isak looks set to seal a club-record move to St James’ Park after a fee in the region of £60m was agreed with Real Sociedad.
A hugely exciting piece of business, but one that leaves fans wondering where things stand regarding Joao Pedro?
Well, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, Newcastle are STILL trying to get a deal for the 20-year-old ‘over the line’, insisting the club are hoping to sign the Swedish striker AND the highly-rated Brazilian before next Thursday’s deadline.
It may take in excess of £85m to sign both, however it seems Isak’s seemingly imminent arrival has not ended our interest in Pedro – although Jacobs does accept that a move for Lucas Paqueta now looks ‘less likely.’
West Ham launched a £34m bid for the Lyon star earlier today as he pushes to seal a Premier League move, however sources in France insist the Ligue 1 side are pushing for £50m plus for the South American star.
