Sky Sports: Two Newcastle United officials now spotted in Spain to complete marquee signing

It looks like Alexander Isak’s proposed move to St James’ Park is edging closer by the minute.

As revealed by Sky Sports News, Dan Ashworth and Steve Nickson have now been spotted Spain to push through a club record deal for the Real Sociedad star.

Keith Downie – Sky’s correspondent in the North East – claims that a £58m deal is on the verge of completion, with a host of outlets confirming that the 6ft 4′ striker looks set to become the club’s fourth senior signing of the summer after Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman.

It’s believed the final fee could rise to £63m, with some outlets also reporting that Real Sociedad have insisted on a 10% sell-on clause to be inserted into his contract.

It’s big money, but this would be a huge statement of intent from our new owners and the signing of one of Europe’s most exciting young strikers.

With our new sporting director and head of recruitment now in Spain to finalise a deal, it looks like we’ve FINALLY landed that marquee signing in the final third we’ve been waiting for all summer!

  1. Not so sure about him being “that marquee signing”.
6 goals last season is hardly “marquee” material.
Lets not get too carried away – it will take the lad time to settle and might even be thrown straight in against Wolves.
At least we finally have another pukka striker in the squad.
