Alexander Isak now en-route to Tyneside for Newcastle United medical – Sky Sports

As reported by Sky Sports, Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak is on his way to Tyneside in order to complete his medical ahead of a club-record £58million move, smashing our current record of £40m.

Newcastle have held significant interest in the Swedish international across the whole window, but in the last week the deal has rapidly materialised and it is expected that the move can be completed in the next 48 hours.

Isak, who has been tipped to be one of the most exciting young talents in Europe, scored in Sociedad’s recent 4-1 defeat to Barcelona in what may very well have been his farewell game.

It is unknown whether the 22-year-old will be available for the Wolves games on Sunday – although judging on Howe’s history with introducing new players to his squad, he would be unlikely to play anyway.

While not ideal, the injury worry that Callum Wilson suffered against Man City may have been a blessing in disguise – it seems a new striker was made an absolute priority following the match.
