Surprise move for Brazilian midfielder now under consideration as NUFC eye late loan – Report

According to The Mail, Newcastle are showing late interest in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

The report states that Eddie Howe is still pushing to bring in a holding midfielder before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline following an injury to Jonjo Shelvey that will keep him out until December.

Luiz is believed to be among the names currently under consideration, with the club waiting to see if the 24-year-old may be allowed to leave on loan.

One potential issue if the fact he’s currently out of contract next summer, meaning any temporary move would require him to sign a new deal before leaving or arrive on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season?

The same piece reports that Atletico Madrid are also interested in the Brazilian international, who has started just once in the league under Steve Gerrard this term.

Another one to watch over the next 24 hours, alongside Youri Tielemans, Amadou Haidara and Ainsley-Maitland-Niles?
