Newcastle set to launch £2.5m bid for highly-rated Sunderland talent – Report

According to The Sun, Newcastle are prepared to raid our biggest rivals and pay £2.5m for highly-rated Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg with other Premier League clubs also believed to be interested.

Rigg is just 15-years-old but is already one of the biggest prospects in the country and has worked his way into the England youth setup, captaining the young squad in a recent match against Italy.

Despite many other top clubs eyeing up a move for the young star, it is believed that Rigg’s family are Newcastle supporters which could play a big role in the making of his decision.

While the Black Cats have been quite clear that they would like their academy product to stay at the club, it will prove a difficult task to pull off given the demand for Rigg is so high.

Newcastle, alongside Everton, have held interest in the teenager for a number of months now and we would certainly be keen to improve our youth squads as part of the new project to improve all aspects of the club.
