Following a brilliant 5-1 win over Brentford last weekend, Newcastle United take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in a battle between fifth and sixth place.
Keeping injuries, recent form and today’s opposition in mind, here’s the starting 11 we think Eddie Howe might go with come 3pm:
(4-3-3): Pope – Trippier, Schar, Botman, Targett – S Longstaff, Guimaraes, Willock – Almiron, Wilson, Murphy.
I think there’ll be one change here, seeing Matt Targett replace Dan Burn at left-back. The big man was the one player who struggled in that 5-1 win over Brentford and could get exposed if paired up against Man Utd’s Brazilian trickster, Antony.
Sadly, Allan Saint-Maximin has suffered another injury setback and will be missing from this one, so Jacob Murphy seems likely to keep his place down the left-hand side.
The team he selected last weekend suggests he’ll be loyal to a side that have performed well over the past two games, meaning the likes of Joelinton may have to settle for a place on the bench again.
Predicted Man Utd XI: De Gea – Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw – Casimero, Eriksen – Antony, Fernandes, Rashford – Martial.
How do you see us lining up?
Olly, do you honestly think Targett can handle Anthony and Burn can’t?
