The teams sheets are out ahead of tonight’s 7.30pm kick off at St James’ Park, which sees us take on Everton as we look to get back to winning ways following Sunday’s draw at Old Trafford.
Without further ado, here’s the side Eddie Howe has gone with against the Toffees:
STARTING XI: Pope – Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn – Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton – Almiron, Wilson, Murphy.
SUBS: Karius, Lascelles, Lewis, Targett, Shelvey, Willock, Anderson, Fraser, Wood.
So, Howe has named an unnamed side, meaning Dan Burn remains at left-back, Jacob Murphy out wide and Joe Willock on the bench alongside Matt Targett.
As expected, Jonjo Shelvey is on the bench once again, with Allan Saint-Maximin (hamstring) and Alexander Isak (thigh) miss out after suffering injury setbacks.
Here’s the XI Frank Lampard has gone with, which features a return to the side for Anthony Gordon after he served a one-match ban during their 2-0 defeat at Spurs on Saturday and a first start of the season for the fit-again Dominic Calvert-Lewin:
Don’t understand how Burn is playing at LB after Sunday, surely Targett was the choice and would offer better support for Murphy.
