Bruno Guimaraes’ telling message amid interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid

Bruno Guimaraes’ latest comments on his Newcastle United future suggest he has no plans to leave anytime soon, with him instead focused on becoming a “legend” at St James’ Park.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the Brazilian on several occasions, however a couple of reports this week have credited both Chelsea and Liverpool with an interest in the 24-year-old.

It’s no surprise that he’s gaining admirers from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, yet he seems fully focused on Newcastle United, insisting “there is a long way to go” in his journey on Tyneside.

Speaking to Sky Sports, here’s what the midfielder’s had to say about his future at the club:

“This is only my first full season at Newcastle.

“There is a long way to go. I love playing here, I love to bond with the fans, and I want to become a legend here.”

“The rest, I leave with my agent. I have three or four years of contract left. It’s so long.

“I swear I’m not thinking about other things. My focus now is just on Newcastle and the World Cup.”

Things can change quickly in football – just look at the last 12 months at Newcastle! – but he doesn’t speak like a man who’ll be pushing for a move at the first opportunity.

After all, you don’t become a club “legend” over a season or two, so let’s hope we get to enjoy more Bruno brilliance for many years to come!
