Dan Ashworth set for transfer talks as Toon are quoted £30m for January target – Report

According to The Chronicle, Brighton have placed a £30m asking price on Leandro Trossard, with plans for the January transfer window expected to be deliberated during the World Cup break.

The Belgian has been heavily linked with both Newcastle and Chelsea in recent weeks following a superb start to the season that’s seen him notch seven goals and three assists.

Ashworth is believed to be a big fan of the 27-year-old – who arrived at The Amex during his time on the South Coast – and it’s claimed a transfer summit will take place on Tyneside in the coming weeks to discuss our priority targets this winter.

Trossard’s contract expires at the end of the season, although it’s believed Brighton have an option to extend that until 2024; something they are likely to take up in order to protect his value.

When asked about plans for January, Howe appeared calm and collected, reassuring us there was no real need to panic – a stark contrast to the last January window where we were desperate for reinforcements.

As we head into the window in the top four, there’s a real buzz around the city and if we can once again recruit the right type of players to add quality in depth to this already impressive squad, there’s no telling where we might finish come the end of the season.
