Official England World Cup squad: THREE Mags in, one missing and Maddison makes 26-man cut

It’s official. Callum Wilson has been named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup, joining Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope in the 26-man line up.

Unfortunately, there’s no place for Geordie defender Dan Burn – who has missed out to the likes of Eric Dier, Ben White, Harry Maguire and – however Toon target James Maddison has made the cut following a stunning run of form with Leicester City.

This is the first time in almost 25 years that three Newcastle players will be in an England World Cup squad, with Alan Shearer, Rob Lee and David Batty all featuring in 1998.

Trippier and Pope’s places always seemed nailed on, but it’s brilliant to see Wilson’s England dream come true after edging out Ivan Toney and Tammy Abraham.

Here’s the 26-man squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton) Nick Pope (Newcastle), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Conor Coady (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham), Harry Maguire (Man United), Luke Shaw (Man United), John Stones (Man City), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle), Kyle Walker (Man City) Ben White (Arsenal).

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Kalvin Phillips (Man City), Declan Rice (West Ham), James Maddison (Leicester City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool).

Forwards: Marcus Rashford (Man United), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Chelsea), Callum Wilson (Newcastle).
