Newcastle listening to offers for two players ahead of January transfer window – Report

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are willing to listen to offers for both Matt Ritchie and Jamaal Lascelles; two players who’ve often found themselves out of Eddie Howe’s first-team plans this season.

Collectively the duo have made just five appearances in the league with just one of them in the starting lineup – Lascelles played the full 90 minutes on our only defeat of the season against Liverpool.

Howe has previously labelled Ritchie an ‘incredible’ player after managing him at both Bournemouth and Newcastle, but the boss is now ready to depart with the 33-year-old for a cut-price fee in January.

Similarly, Howe has also praised Lascelles for his character and attitude and showed faith in the defender in the summer by reassuring him that he would remain club captain for the upcoming campaign.

As stated in the reports, a fee of around £10m would be enough for us to allow the skipper to leave in the upcoming window and get back to playing regular first-team football.

Although they may leave a lot to be desired in terms of quality, the pair – who made a combined 410 appearances – played a crucial role in getting us back to the Premier League in 2017 and their passion and commitment to the club can never be questioned.
