Newcastle identify £50m Napoli star as ‘major transfer target’ – The Times

Some big claims have arrived from The Times‘ Martin Hardy this afternoon, revealing that Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has emerged as a ‘major transfer target’ for Newcastle United.

The North-East reporter reveals that the 21-year-old has been ‘scouted regularly’ by our recruitment team prior to the World Cup – and the feedback has been so positive that he’s now become our leading target ahead of the next two transfer windows.

The Times add that the Georgian forward is valued at around £50m, however, it won’t be easy to sign the electric wide man given the amount of interest he’s received from several big clubs in Europe.

Kvaratskhelia has earned the nickname “Kvaradona” – some at Napoli have compared his stunning dribbling to the late, great Diego Maradona – and has been one of the most destructive attackers in Italy this season.

He’s bagged six goals and seven assists in 12 Serie A appearances, also weighing in with two goals and three assists in five Champions League outings for Napoli.

Let’s hope there’s some truth in this. I suspect he’ll cost more than the £50m mentioned, but he’s be a potentially game-changing signing for Eddie Howe’s attack!

  1. It would be class to get our own Kinkladze. The Eastern European lads usually work their bollocks’s off as well.
