Toon set for double boost as best player and captain risk missing festive fixture?

Toon target James Maddison is facing a race against time to be fit for our Boxing Day trip to Leicester City, while captain Jonny Evans has been ruled out after picking up an injury during a friendly.

Maddison is still struggling with the knee injury that kept him out of the reckoning for the England squad at the start of the World Cup, meaning a late call will be made on his fitness on the day.

Despite not training on Friday, Leicester boss Brendan Rodger’s has claimed they are ‘going to give it every chance’ to try and get him fit for the game and that they will assess over the next couple of days.

Defender Jonny Evans has been officially ruled out of the game by his manager after the 34-year-old sustained yet another injury in a friendly against Troyes during the Word Cup break.

Elsewhere, Ricardo Pereira, James Justin and Ryan Bertrand have also been ruled out, meaning we could well be facing a Foxes side without a host of key players. Time to take advantage!
