4 Mags up for sale as Dan Ashworth and Darren Eales face January challenge – The Telegraph

As reported by The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Ryan Fraser, Jamal Lewis, Paul Dummett and Matt Ritchie could leave the club in January to reduce the wage bill and make room for new signings.

Along with FFP restrictions, it’s thought one of the biggest challenges currently facing Dan Ashworth and Darren Eales is the club’s rising wage bill.

This is largely due to the arrival of star players such as Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes, along with the fact we have struggled to offload a host of rarely-used squad players.

Fraser is currently attracting offers from the likes of Southampton and Brentford while Lewis, Dummett and Ritchie could be made available on the loan – if we can’t find buyers – to free up some wages.

That said, you have to wonder if a heel injury to Matt Targett will impact our plans when it comes to Lewis – our only fit option at left-back behind Dan Burn.

Despite having a fair few players already out on loan – Jeff Hendrick, Isaac Hayden, Ciaran Clark – a large portion of their wages are still being covered by the club, an amount exceeding £100,00, according to The Telegraph.
