Last night’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace may have been a frustrating watch and missed opportunity to take all three points, but results elsewhere have well and truly gone Newcastle’s way this weekend.
Yesterday’s point took us up to third and above Manchester United on goal difference, leaving fans hoping for an Arsenal win when they met the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners went 1-0 down, but the home side hit back brilliantly, with a Bukayo Saka stunner and two goals from Eddie Nketiah handing Arsenal a 3-2 win; a result that keeps us third.
This isn’t the only score line that’s worked in our favour over the past 48 hours. Aside from Arsenal and Man City, no side in the top 10 won this weekend.
OK, this would’ve made a win at Crystal Palace all the more important, but it’s cushioned the blow that the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Brighton all lost or drew this weekend.
With Tottenham (5th and level games played) travelling to Fulham (7th) on Monday night, let’s hope Aleksandar Mitrovic can do us a favour tomorrow.
Here’s the results so far, followed by an updated Premier League table:
- Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
- Leicester 2-2 Brighton
- Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest
- Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa
- West Ham 2-0 Everton
- Crystal Palace 0-0 Newcastle
- Leeds 0-0 Brentford
- Man City 3-0 Wolves
- Arsenal 3-2 Man Utd

Yes results went our way but we didn’t capitalise on them… a missed opportunity.
