The games Bruno Guimaraes will miss after late red card hands Howe fresh headache

Bruno Guimaraes will be forced to sit out of Newcastle United’s next THREE Premier League games following his straight red card in last night’s semi-final win over Southampton.

The good news for Eddie Howe is that he WILL be back in time for the final at Wembley, however he’s now been ruled out of upcoming fixtures against West Ham, Bournemouth and Liverpool.

In amongst all the brilliant scenes and big celebrations at St James’ Park, it was a bitter blow to see our Brazilian maestro receive his first red card of his career after VAR asked to the referee to review his high and reckless challenge on Saints winger Samuel Edozie.

Fortunately for us, his ban will be lifted just before the Carabao Cup final on Sunday 26th February, but he won’t play again this month in the Premier League, leaving us particularly light in midfield now Jonjo Shelvey has departed without a replacement being signed.

Here’s our upcoming games and the fixtures Bruno will miss (in bold) as he prepares to serve a three-game ban:

  • West Ham (H) – Saturday 4th February – Premier League
  • Bournemouth (A) – Saturday 11th February – Premier League
  • Liverpool (H) – Saturday 18th February – Premier League
  • Man Utd / Nottingham Forest – Sunday 26th February – *Carabao Cup final
  • Man City (A) – Saturday 4th March – Premier League
  • Wolves (H) – Sunday 12th March – Premier League

Let’s hope Joelinton, Willock and Longstaff can all stay fit over the coming weeks, otherwise we may see the likes of Almiron or Anderson thrown into the mix.

  1. Full strength team and we are capable of competing, it’s the strength in depth that could find us out this season especially in the league.
Fantastic bit of history to reach the final, let’s hope we can win it.
