The Mail have released some interesting details ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final, revealing the prize money on offer, the bonus our squad could receive and plans for an open bus parade should we win.
Sadly, the League Cup is far less lucrative than the FA Cup. The winners will receive £100,000, while the runners up take home a mere £50,000 (FA Cup winners receive £2million).
However, should Newcastle United lift the trophy on Sunday night, The Mail report that the Newcastle United squad – players and staff – will split a £1milllion bonus offered as an incentive by the club’s Saudi-backed owners.
It’s believe a ‘complex formula’ has been put forward to decide how the money would be distributed should we win, with involvement in cup matches and minutes played over the competition set to impact who gets what.
Staying with The Mail, North-East reporter Craig Hope has also revealed that an open-top bus parade will take place in Newcastle on Tuesday 28th February if we win. But, should we lose, there will be no post-Wembley parade through the city.
