Dan Ashworth told to sign TWO Premier League players after talks with Eddie Howe – Report

According to new reports, Newcastle United have identified James Maddison and Kieran Tierney as two leading summer targets.

This comes from Football Insider, who report that Eddie Howe has told sporting director Dan Ashworth to pursue the Leicester City and Arsenal duo over the coming months, believing both could slot straight into our side and improve his XI in two key areas.

It’s believed talks have ‘stalled’ over a new contract for James Maddison, meaning the Foxes star will be in the final 12 months of his contract when the summer transfer window opens.

We had two bids rejected for the England international last summer, refusing to pay Leicester’s £60m asking price; a fee that will likely come down given his contract situation.

As for Tierney, it looks like the Scotland international will leave the Emirates in search of regular first-team football, having lost his place in Mikel Arteta’s side to Oleksandr Zinchenko this season.

If the Scott can prove his fitness, he could be great signing for Eddie Howe, who tried to sign him for Bournemouth prior to his £25m to North London a few years ago.
