Almiron suffers injury ahead of Nottingham Forest clash – Bad news confirmed by Paraguay boss

Newcastle United have been dealt a fresh injury blow ahead of tonight’s trip to Nottingham Forest, as it’s emerged Miguel Almiron will miss the game after pulling up in training yesterday.

As revealed by Paraguay boss Guillermo Barros Schelotto, the attacker was not called up to their squad for an upcoming friendly with Chile due to an ankle injury that will keep him sidelined for three weeks.

When asked why Miggy was not included just moments ago, Schelotto said:

“Miguel Almiron was injured yesterday and will be out for three weeks and it is not necessary for him to come.

“We received the report from his club (Newcastle United) and we saw the video of the injury.”

This means we’ll be without Joelinton (suspended), Anthony Gordon (ankle) and Almiron for tonight’s game at the City Ground, with talk of a three week absence meaning the latter is also likely to miss our vital clash with Man Utd two weeks on Sunday.

Let’s hope Murphy and Saint-Maximin can step up in Almiron’s absence tonight.
